Rewrite of BeTwittered, and Adaptation to Laconica Servers/Communities

I'll be spending some time rewriting BeTwittered.  I'm liking the term "overhaul" better than rewrite, because I'll be reusing large chunks of code.  I've made this decision because the presentation layer and the server side stuff were really muddied up.  That's due to the fact that I was learning web programming, Apache, CSS, Javascript and PHP as I went. Yeah, I took too big of a bite!  I'll be able to leverage the code already there, plus improve the design and structure of the code.  I'm going to be keeping in mind the addition multiple account support, and of XMPP support for laconica servers as I go.  If you end up using the new laconica XMPP version (I think I may call it Portalica) and connect to a laconica server (e.g. http://Identi.ca or http://army.twit.tv) you'll get a much better experience, closer to real time like a chat client.  Laconica servers are a sort of open source "clone" of Twitter.  I think calling it a clone is unfair, since Laconica servers are much more feature rich, but "clone" gets the main point across.  It looks and acts like Twitter, it just does more! Once Laconica servers reach a critical mass, you may see the shift really start.  I've temporarily setup accounts on both Identica and twit-army, but eventually there will be a federation that means you can subscribe to/follow people on either (or any laconica based community)  I'm hoping for a big win for Evan, I'm hoping his open microblogging push becomes the foundation for an open standard (think SMTP or HTTP)  Imagine if a single company owned HTTP. Open standards are good.
